Baby at 12 weeks and other updates

Yippie.....I've finally passed the first trimester without a hitch. Nausea and vomiting should be over soon but the headaches are bothering me now. and and and.....pimples! They're popping all over my face, especially chin and jawline. How to get rid of these??!!! I've been receiving some controversial advise. Some told me that I could be expecting a girl as the girl would take away mother's beauty while others told me that it could be a boy due to the difference in hormones produced during the pregnancy. Well, whether it's a boy or girl would only be known by next month.

22 Apr 09: The visit to Dr Ong was a breeze as I arranged the appointment to be in the afternoon instead of evening everytime. For evening appointment, I would usually wait for 1 - 1.5 hours whereas for afternoon appointment, it's less than 30 mins. I opted for the NT scan and the blood test (PAPP-A) to check for the risk of down syndrome. Actually, the test is not really necessary but as I'm over 30 years old, it's better to eliminate any risk if given the chance to. The Ultrasound markers indicate fetus is at low risk of Down Syndrome. Based on this, it's 70% accurate. Baby was very active during the scan. It's kicking up a storm inside my tummy -squirming, turning, twisting and bouncing, especially so when Dr Ong moved the doppler across my tummy. It seems like baby's signal of 'Hey, get that doppler off and stop disturbing my sleep!' It's so amazing to see this and it's just like the videos showcasing different stages of pregnancy at BabyCenter. Darling hubby even caught a glimpse of baby sucking his thumb. I guess he won't regret taking his half day leave to be able to see baby performing circus inside. It's unfortunate that we did not bring our camera to record down this amazing period.

On the overall, baby's healthy and it's brain is developing well. Baby's heartbeat was at 171 and measuring 5.3cm, a healthy one too. My weight has slightly dropped from 47.4kg to 46.7kg. My waistline has increased to about 32.5 inch now.

I went shopping at United Sq and bought 2 maternity capris. On top of this, I've also bought the belly belt (see pic below) so that I can still wear my existing jeans and minimise the extras. Some of my lovely colleagues had also passed me their maternity wear but it's still too early to wear them. The CDs which I've bought are played every night during bedtime. I hope baby enjoy the music as much as I do.
