Pregnancy at 28 weeks

I'm considered to be in my 28th week now, crossing over to the third trimester.

How is the little one developing?

According to one of the pregnancy website, baby by now should weigh about 1kg. Baby's brain will begin to form the characteristics of grooves and indentations on the surface which are common with mature human brains. Hairs such as those on the head and eyelash and eyebrows would also be forming. Baby eyes will also unfuse and open during this week. However, she still can't distinguish objects though she will be aware of light and dark.

How am I doing?

I'll be doing the blood glucose test at Dr Ong's clinic later. Kinda jittery and worried over the needles and the outcome. I prayed hard not to be diagnosed with gestational diabetes but I'm in a relatively higher risk category as (1) i have polycystic ovary syndrome and (2) my mum is a diabetic. From the pregnancy website, following are the aspects that categorised one as higher risk:
a) Obese with BMI above 30 --> I'm not
b) You have a history of gestational diabetes --> This is my first pregnancy so I don't know.
c) You have a strong family history of diabetes --> My mum is diabetic. Is that considered to be having strong family history
d) You're found to have sugar in your urine --> Yes, once and I'm hoping that was attributed to the durian feast that I had for the past few days before the test.
e) You've previously given birth to a big baby --> again, first pregnancy so can't tell. But based on the current growth of baby, there's no indication that she's growing into a giant.
f) You've had an unexplained stillbirth --> TOUCHWOOD!
g) You've had baby with a birth defect --> CHOY AGAIN!
h) You have high blood pressure --> nope.

Based on the above factors, seemed like my risk is low. But then there's another qualifier stating that many women who actually develop gestational diabetes don't have any risk factors. Pray that the test tomorrow is an all clear.
